Gardening 101~ From Ladybugs to Lacewings: How to Attract the Right Beneficial Insects to Your Garden for Pest Control

“Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead.” Good Morning Quote

For those of you who have been following me over the years know, I make every attempt to incorporate organic methods of fertilization, disease & pest management techniques.

Gardening can be a fulfilling and rewarding hobby, although I would say the biggest challenges that gardeners face is pest control. Pests can wreak havoc on a garden, damaging plants and crops. The use of pesticides is an option, but it can be harmful to the environment, including beneficial insects which can help with pest control naturally. Companion planting is one way to attract beneficial insects that are natural predators that feed on pests, providing a natural and effective way to control pests. In today’s episode I’ll discuss the different types of beneficial insects, their benefits, and how to attract them to your garden for natural pest control.

Gardening 101~ The Ultimate Guide to Using Neem Oil for Organic Pest Management: Pros, Cons, and Tips

A garden is always a series of losses set against a few triumphs, like life itself. – May Sarton

For those of you who’ve followed me over the years know, I advocate for organic methods in gardening. I try to incorporate methods including companion planting and other natural pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers in my garden.

For years I’ve used neem oil, cayenne pepper, insecticidal soaps, and even organic white flour to rid my garden of those nasty bugs that want to do damage to my beautiful plants.

While chemical pesticides have long been used to control pests in agriculture, they’ve proven to have many negative effects on the environment and human health. Fortunately, there is a natural and organic solution for pest management – neem oil.

Neem oil is derived from the seeds of the neem tree, & has been used for centuries in traditional medicine and agriculture. In today’s episode, we will dive into the science behind neem oil’s pest-repelling properties and explore its various applications. I’ll also discuss the pros and cons of using neem oil, how to properly apply it, and safety precautions to keep in mind.
