Spring is finally here, and if you’re a newbie or avid gardener, you’re probably itching to get your hands in the dirt. Of course many of you know I started several of my seeds indoors early in March, but now it’s time to plant outdoors!  

But wait! If you live in zones 4 and 5 like I do, where the winters are harsh & the growing season is short, you may be wondering which vegetables are hardy enough to survive the cold temperatures.

  1. My husband does the gardening here because I have a black thumb! He uses succession planting, but the late freezes and very hot summers are making it difficult! We do get wonderful peppers and tomatos because of the heat, but early spring is pretty iffy for us!

  2. I love gardening and so does Lia. I start getting excited to plant as soon has the weather starts getting warm but I know we still have to wait. Lia planted carrots a few weeks ago from seeds and they are growing great! We put in squash, peppers plans and lettuce last week. How I love fresh vegetables.
